Yaşlı, kırmızı, dev bir yıldız olan Aldebaran, Boğa’nın gözünü oluşturur. Orion’un kemerinden yukarı giden çizgiyi izleyin (1) ve Aldebaran’ı bulun. Onun yakınında V şeklindeki Öküz (Hyades) isimli yıldız kümesi bulunur. Bunları çıplak gözle görebilirsiniz ama dürbünle baktığınızda daha çok yıldız görebilirsiniz. Aynı çizgiyi izlerseniz (2), Ülker (Pleiades) adındaki bir başka parlak, genç yıldız kümesine ulaşacaksınız. Çıplak gözle yaklaşık altı yıldız, dürbünleyse çok daha fazlasını görmeye çalışın.
Bazı bulutsuları, içindeki gaz parladığı için değil, tozları yakındaki yıldızların ışığını yansıttığı için görürüz. Bu yansıma bulutsuları mavi renktedir, çünkü toz zerrecikleri kırmızı ışıktan çok mavi ışığı yansıtır. Yansıma bulutsuları bir yıldızın yanında ya da çevresinde bulunan mavi bir pus tabakası gibi görünür. Ülker (Pleiades) yıldız kümesinin teleskopla çekilen fotoğraflarında, yıldızların etrafında soluk mavi bir pus tabakası görülür. Bunun nedeni yıldızların uzayın tozlu bir bölgesinde hareket ediyor olmasıdır.
